::Guts and Determination::
Onesome: “Guts”– sometimes can determine the outcome: whoever digs in and plays through the injuries and circumstances. What is your favorite memory of someone or a team driving past adversity to win the big one?
I remember when I played basketball when I pop my ankle out of socket in the third period and still played on it for the rest of the game. I helped my team win the game. On the way back to my school on the bus I started moving my foot around and felt it pop back into place. I was out for 2 weeks after that game.
Twosome: …and– what brought that question on? The local team won the College World Series last night, winning every elimination game possible to advance as the lowest seed ever to win a National Title. No question, just kudos to them. Okay, easy question: did you hear anything about the games where you are?
There was really no local coverage, but I always watch ESPN for my sports needs.
Threesome: Determination– helps in life: what have you accomplished through sheer determination that will remain with you as a bright spot in your life?
I was in a car wreck in 1998 that messed me up. I had determination and support from friends to finish my senior year at college and to get my degree. Now I’m a computer programmer and have a degree for it.
I’m getting Tiger Hawk Blog ready to be moved to a dot com address. This is why the blog has a new look. My friend from the blog “View from the Bench” created this theme for me. You can visit his site by clicking on it under Iowa Blogroll on the right side. I have also changed the view of my sidebar as well.
I’m also refocusing on why I have a blog. I’m going to write about Iowa Hawkeye sports (Of Course), Disc Golfing in and around Iowa, About my kids and being a father, about the book I’m currently writing about my youngest son, and other general life topics that I can think of. If you enjoyed my site, please feel free to vote for it in one or all four categories that it is nominated for at the 2008 Blogger’s Choice Awards. You can do this by clicking on the categories at the bottom of my sidebar.
I’m currently stop working on my Wordpress plugins for a few months. This is due to my youngest son being born this year and becoming a father for the second time. I will hopefully start working on the plugins again in the Fall right around Football Season.
Please comment on my posts that interest you or send comments or questions to my email address under “Contact Page” button on the top of my blog.
My site has moved from thefunzone.awardspace.com to the tigerhawkblog.awardspace.com. This is to get my site ready to be moved to a .com website in the near future.
After I fixed the issue of running out of database space, my blog is now working again.
I hope everyone had a good holiday and a happy New Year.
I just don’t get Wal-mart threats to all of the sites. What is the difference from the sites listing the Black Friday ad from Wal-mart when their own employees get the ad 7 days before it is released and tell everybody about it. I think Wal-mart needs to worry about their own employees instead of threatening web sites from listing the ads. How do they think the ads get leaked in the first place.
I’m not too happy with how football tickets are being sold by the University of Iowa or Iowa State University this year.
First I’m going to talk about Iowa State University and what they are pulling. The game is Iowa vs. Iow State at Ames. The only way you could buy these tickets is if you buy season tickets to the Cyclones. What the ****? How can this be fair to fans of both teams and how can the NCAA allow them to do this. Personally I think Iowa State should get an NCAA violation for this stunt. This is not fair to any of the fans just because Iowa State doesn’t have a good team to sell out their stadium. I think this is bull****.
Now how about Iowa. Since this new ticketing system was put in place it is very hard to buy tickets to the game. I love going to the football games at Kinnick Stadium, but I haven’t gone to a game since 2005. This is because I can’t get any tickets without having to pay 100 to 200 dollars for them. This new system makes it so easy for scalpers and ticket sellers to buy tickets. I don’t make a lot of money so prices are important to me. Now if I want to buy tickets for a game and set at the 50 yard line I have to pay $50 for a ticket and $600 for the seat. What the ****? The University of Iowa is making it hard for true Hawkeye fans to go to the games. To things need to be changed with the ticket process at Iowa. First if a fan buys season tickets then they must use all of the tickets to qualify for season tickets next year or they should be suspended 1 year from season tickets and get to start over in priority. I have been to several games that was sold out and there was several empty seats in the stands. ****ing ticket brokers and scalpers.
I biggest thing that gets me going is a Senator from the Iowa State Senate wanted to buy 250 tickets to the Iowa vs Iowa State game this year. I see they are spending my tax dollars for their own personal stuff. People like this should only be able to buy a max of 5 ticket per game and no more. The fans that buy more than 5 tickets are very selfish and only thinks about their selves like this Senator from Iowa. He should feel very bad for robbing fans of the University of Iowa rights to buy tickets. My question is what the h*** does he need 250 tickets for a single game? Everyone knows he used his position to get these tickets. Thank you for screwing me out of tickets to the only game that means to most to me Senator. I hope you are proud of yourself for stealing a ticket from a 4 year old little boy and for abusing your power in office to get these tickets.
The Senator should give me 3 of those tickets for a apology. But everybody knows that is not going to happen from a selfish self center person that should be voted out of office the next time his office is up for grabs.
THe question I have is where was this Senator at when Iowa finished 1 - 10 a few years ago. I know he didn’t want to go see them because they stink. But I did. I’m a very loyal Hawkeye fan. Enough of my Rant and Rave on this subject.
